Author Riddhima Sen, who has long advocated for empathy and inclusivity, believes that everyone has the ability to give back and spark meaningful change. Q1. What inspired you to take an interest in social work and philanthropy, and how has it shaped your outlook as an author?
Answer: Ever since my childhood , I have always wanted to help others . Seeing beggars begging on the streets of Kolkata , or seeing orphans would always make my heart ache since a very young age . This inspired me to take an interest in social work and philanthropy . As an author , my outlook of the “ mundane “ world of commoners , people who are just like us , maybe happier despite their evident poverty , helps me while world building in books .
Q2. Many people hesitate to contribute, thinking their efforts are too small to matter. What would you say to them?
Answer: For students , it is difficult to contribute monetarily always . Since they can either bag internships , or manage finances for every month , making it a bit more difficult to contribute . However , for working professionals , it may probably be a bit easier . It may never hurt a bit to contribute , though .

Answer: Acts of kindness and volunteerism can be made a natural part of everyday life rather than occasional gestures by donating to greater causes whenever and however we can , regardless of whether it is mundane or occasional .
Q4. How do you see the role of writers and public figures in raising awareness about social issues and motivating others to take action?
Answer: According to me , writers and public figures play a key role in raising awareness about social issues and motivating others to take actions . Words are sharper and mightier than the swords . Authors can change worldviews via their writing , which oftentimes end up revolutionizing and changing the world ultimately .
Q5. Philanthropy often goes beyond charity—it’s about empowering communities. How do you think individuals can contribute to long-term social change?
Answer: Individuals can contribute to long-term social change by creating small and effective changes to empower communities . It does not always have to be monetary in nature , it can be creative or of any other means as well .
Q6. Could you share a story or experience where giving back had a profound impact, either on you personally or on the people you helped?
Answer: I once volunteered for social work , where I had to advocate for the cause of menstruation in rural areas . Women in rural areas are still forced to use just dirty rags instead of sanitary napkins . We were working towards the goal of introducing the usage of sanitary napkins in those outdated areas . The outcome was highly overwhelming , and heart warming with a positive impact .

Answer: Well , young readers who want to make a difference but don’t know where to start can start off my making small contributions , and wiring creative means for the cause as well . Young minds are highly creative in nature , which if used fully can be highly impactful .
