A 15-year-old boy died and three others sustained injuries after a fire broke out early Monday morning at a chawl in the Cuffe Parade area, officials said.
The incident occurred around 4:15 am at a single-storey chawl in Shivshakti Nagar on Captain Prakash Pethe Marg. The injured were immediately rushed to St. George’s Hospital, where Yash Vitthal Khot (15) was declared dead, officials added.
According to the fire department, the blaze was limited to electric wiring, installations, three electric vehicle batteries, and household items spread across roughly a 10×10-foot area on the first floor.
A fire engine was dispatched to the scene, and the flames were brought under control within 20 minutes, by around 4:35 am, a fire official confirmed.
