In her birthplace of Rairangpur in the Mayurbhanj district, President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated and lay the foundation stones for many development projects on Wednesday, the third day of her six-day tour to Odisha. An important step toward improving higher education and IT skills in the region was taken when the President opened the Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University Information Technology Campus.AYUSH Hospital cum Ayurvedic College, a new campus of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, an archery center (Dhanurvidya Kendra), city beautification and drainage improvement projects, an auditorium and cultural center, a girls’ hostel, and a de-addiction center are just a few of the transformative projects for which she laid the groundwork.

Speaking at the event, Murmu said he was certain that these development initiatives will create new jobs and help the area. She emphasized the Purvodaya vision of the Indian government, which places a strong priority on the development of Odisha and other eastern states. She pointed out that this strategy is really helping the Mayurbhanj district. “By strengthening vital infrastructure and generating new job opportunities, these initiatives will directly benefit the local population,” she stated.

The President emphasized the government’s particular emphasis on indigenous groups’ economic development. She cited important initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana, which supports tribal livelihoods by establishing minimum support prices for more than ninety minor forest produce items. She pointed out that the government’s dedication to inclusive growth is demonstrated by the Scheduled Tribe Women Empowerment program, which offers low-interest loans to tribal women, and microcredit initiatives that provide financial support to self-help organizations including tribal members.

President Murmu also highlighted efforts to improve health and education in tribal areas, including Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) for the welfare of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). She mentioned widespread electrification of tribal regions and the extension of 4G internet connectivity to remote areas, which are helping drive comprehensive development. “The upliftment of the poorest of the poor can be achieved only through the development of the tribal community,” she emphasised.
