HDFC Bank Managing Director and CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan has decided not to seek reappointment and will step down from his position at the close of business on October 26, 2026.
Jagdishan, who took over as the bank’s MD & CEO in 2020, has played a key role in steering India’s largest private-sector lender through a significant phase of growth and transformation, including the landmark merger with HDFC Ltd.
The bank’s board has acknowledged his decision and announced that it will fast-track the process of selecting and appointing his successor. His departure marks a major leadership transition for one of India’s most influential financial institutions.
