Under Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s chairmanship, the High-Level Committee (HLC) allowed additional Central assistance under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to five states affected by floods/landslides the southwest monsoon in 2020 and hailstorm during Rabi crop in 2019-20.
At the committee meeting, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that Center had determined the help to Assam, Arunachal Odisha, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh who faced the natural disaster. Under the National Disaster Response Fund )NDRF) the assistance has been approved to all the five states who are affected the natural floods and landslides.
The HLC has approved additional Central assistance of Rs 1,751.05 crore to the five states for floods/landslides during southwest monsoon-2020, Rs 437.15 crore to Assam, Rs 75.86 crore to Arunachal Pradesh, Rs 320.94 crore to Odisha, Rs 245.96 crore to Telangana and Rs 386.06 crore to Uttar Pradesh. For hailstorms during Rabi 2019-20, Rs 285.08 crore to Uttar Pradesh the HLC has confirmed the additional Central assistance.
As per the Ministry of Home Affairs official release, the Central Government had deputed Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (MCTs) promptly after the disasters to these states without tarrying the memorandum’s release from the individual governments.
