Russia’s strategic victory over India’s purchase of the S-400 missile system

The United States has repeatedly threatened India with the purchase of S-400 missile systems from Russia. The United States is currently embroiled in a controversy over the imposition of sanctions on India. Republican Party leader Dot Young said it would be a strategic victory for Russia if India was banned under the Counter-Terrorism Act (CAATSA).

“If US President Joe Biden’s administration imposes sanctions on India, the United States will be weaker in two strategic fronts,” Young Foreign Policy Committee member Young Young wrote in Foreign Policy Magazine. This will weaken US relations with India and also affect the ability of the quad coalition to deal with China.

“If India moves forward with Russia’s purchase of the S-400 missile system, it should impose sanctions on India under Article 231 of the Penal Code,” said Bob Menezes, a Democratic chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. “Even if the US imposes sanctions, it will not stop India from buying S-400s from Russia,” Young wrote. India has a historic relationship with Russia over international cooperation. Russia will have a strategic victory if sanctions are imposed on India.

A few days ago, Admiral John Aquilino, who was to head the U.S. Army’s Indo-Pacific Command, sharply criticized the U.S. Congress over Indo-Russian relations. “The United States needs to understand that India and Russia have a long history of security cooperation and military equipment,” he said. He argued that India should not impose sanctions on India, which is going to buy S-400 systems from Russia.

Russia launched the missile system on April 28, 2008, capable of reaching a range of up to 400 km. It is currently the most advanced of its defense systems. According to experts, the Russian system is stronger than the missile defense systems in Israel and the United States. The United States has long-range missiles. But Russia has a short-range missile system that can even shoot down planes.

Russia is increasingly killing its S-400 and S-300 missile systems. Russia has introduced a number of missiles into the system. It is capable of targeting any type of enemy missile. This Russian weapon is said to be the deadliest in the world.
