Souvagya Mohapatra Appoints As MD For Atmosphere Hotels – India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, And Bhutan

Souvagya Mohapatra has appointed as the Managing Director for Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts which is an Indian Ocean hospitality group for India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan.

According to the official reports, Salil Panigrahi, Managing Director of Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts stated that this is a great pleasure for them to appoint Souvagya Mohapatra as Managing Director for India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bhutan. Souvagya as the consummate veteran in this field have experience for over 28 years in the hospitality and tourism sector and will be responsible for the overall business strategy. He will also be setting up new Atmosphere Hotels and Resorts in emerging destinations in South Asia. He further showed his confidence in Souvagya as the MD and also wished him good luck for the success in his new role.

In his previous work, Souvagya Mohapatra has been an Executive Committee member of The Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) from 2014 to 2021. He was Co-Chair of the Tourism Subcommittee – Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the year 2018-19 and 2019-2020 for the development of Tourism in Eastern India. He is the former Co-Chair of the Tourism Subcommittee – Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the year 2018-19 and 2019-2020 and Chairman, Eastern Region Tourism Committee – Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), for the year 2019-2020.

After the appointment, Souvagya Mohapatra shared that he started his career at The Oberoi Group which allowed him to spent most of his professional career with MAYFAIR Hotels & Resorts. He was instrumental in the MAYFAIR Group’s growth to twelve renowned luxury properties.

He said that as the Managing Director of India Operation with Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts he is looking forward to extending the footprints of Atmosphere Group beyond its horizon. The work in India, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka will also help to boost the reputation in the global platform. He also stated that he is committed to enhancing the football of high end domestic and foreign tourists through the upbringing of Luxury Resorts at strategic tourist destinations.

During his tenure at MAYFAIR, he played a crucial role in enhancing the average daily rate (ADR) and Group Revenue to a respectable Industry standard. He standardised operations by implementing policies, SOPs, and Corporate Governance according to the highest Indian luxury hospitality standards.

For his Excellency in work, he was awarded much recognition which gave him a new path for his professional career in this field. He was conferred the prestigious ‘Honorary Diploma for Outstanding Contribution and Excellence in Tourism & Hospitality’ by the World Congress of Poets (WCP) under the auspices of the World Academy of Arts & Culture (WAAC). The award was conferred at the 39th World Congress of Poets held at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Odisha.

Mohapatra was recognised as ‘Architects of the Indian Hospitality Industry’, heading the most successful hotel brands and has been included from 2016 till now in the Power List by Hotelier India, for five consecutive years. He was also recognised as the ‘Hotelier of the Year’ during BBC Good Food and ‘Food Food Awards’ in the year 2018.
