After spitting on a woman’s hair while giving her a haircut, Celebrity hairstylist Jawed Habib has landed himself in legal trouble. The hairstylist later apologized and said that the act was done to add ‘humour’ to the lengthy session.
Earlier this week, during a seminar in western Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar town, Jawed Habib spit on a woman’s head. A police complaint was then filed against him by the woman on whose hair Habib spat on during the workshop.
The video of the incident that took place at the seminar conducted by the hairstylist has been widely shared on all social media platforms. It has attracted massive criticism from Internet users. In the video, Habib can be heard telling the audience “If there is a shortage of water, use saliva.”
Later Jawed took to his Instagram page to apologize and said that the act was done to add humour to the long session. The woman on whose hair Jawed spat on during the workshop is identified as Pooja Gupta, a beauty parlour owner. She recounted her experience on social media and wrote, “Yesterday, I attended a workshop of Jawed Habib. He invited me to the stage for a haircut. He said if there is no water, you can use saliva. From now onwards, I will go to my street-side barber for a haircut, but will not go to Habib.”
The National Commission for Women has asked the UP Police to immediately investigate the accuracy of the video and take appropriate action. According to the police, Jawed Habib has been booked under various sections that relate to assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour person.
