COVID Spike In Odisha: Daily Cases Nearing 9000 Mark, Death Rate Low

The daily COVID cases in Odisha see a spike yet again. The everyday positive cases are near the 9000 mark. As per the reports from the health department, in the last 24 hours, 8,839 positive cases have been detected in the state, which is nearly 1000 more than the previous day.

As per the I & PR Department, Khordha district reported a maximum of 2,615 cases, followed by Sundergarh (1252), Cuttack (766) and Sambalpur (596), Mayurbhanj (338), Balasore (231), Puri (216), Bolangir (216), Puri (216), Jharsuguda (203), Jajpur (191), Koraput (161), Bargarh (136), Jagatsinghpur (114), Nabarangpur (112), Ganjam (106), Angul (101).

Other districts which reported less than 100 cases are as follows– Keonjhar (95), Sonepur (87), Kalahandi (86), Nayagarh (75), Dhenkanal (78), Gajapati (72), Nuapada (67), Rayagada (65), Kendrapara (46), Deogarh (25), Kandhamal (20), Boudh (12), Malkangiri (12) and State Pool (575).

The death rate however remains low which has been a significant trend of the third wave in India. Thereby, even though the cases are high, the state and the center are not ready for lockdown yet.
