There was a fierce encounter between Jaish-e-Mohammed Terrorist group and Jammu and Kashmir cops yesterday evening. In the encounter, the cops managed to shoot down and kill one of the famous and notorious terrorists. However, one of the brave officers was martyred in this encounter as well.
The JeM terrorist killed in the region of Kulgam was identified as Babar. He was a Pakistani national active in Shopian & Kulgam since 2018. The martyred Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel has been identified as Rohit Kumar.
As many as five other people have been injured which include 3 people of police personnel as well. The encounter broke in the late hours of Wednesday evening where the Jammu and the Kashmir Police team recovered one AK rifle, one pistol, and two grenades from the spot.
Based on a reliable piece of information, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Pariwan area of the district. The search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire towards the position of security forces, police said.
