A lioness allegedly died of suspected snakebite at Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
According to the reports, the lioness had suddenly fallen ill on Friday evening. When zoo authorities spotted a poisonous snake inside her enclosure, they suspected that she was bitten by it.
The lioness was immediately taken for treatment and given antivenom injections. Despite several efforts by the zoo doctors, the lioness passed away. Post-mortem of the lioness will be conducted to ascertain the actual reason behind her death.
