The theft of diesel and vintage rail engines and the unbolting of steel bridges by gangs of criminals is keeping the Bihar Police awake at night. The complete engine that had been brought there for maintenance was allegedly systematically destroyed by the thieves after they constructed a tunnel to the yard and began collecting parts.Three people were detained, according to P S Dubey, the inspector of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Muzaffarpur, after a case was filed last week at the Barauni police station for the theft of the diesel engine that was sent to the Garhara yard for repairs.
