After allegedly being mauled by a leopard in the Nuapada district on Saturday night, a young person sustained critical injuries. He did, however, manage to avoid the large cat’s lethal strike.Senapati Majhi, a resident of Hirapur hamlet in the Sinapalli forest range, has been named as the victim. Following the event, he was sent in a critical condition to Nuapada hospital.
The incident has instilled fear in the locals’ and visitors’ minds. Officials from the forest department have arrived at the scene and are conducting an investigation after being notified.According to rumours, Senapati had gone to a woodland area outside the hamlet in the evening to answer nature’s call. The leopard attacked him as he was washing on a nearby river. Senapati’s hand had been seized by the large cat. Senapati, however, managed to escape its jaws somehow and fled for his life.
After hearing Senapati’s shrill call, nearby residents raced to come to his aid. The young person who was badly hurt was taken in an ambulance right away to the community health centre (CHC) in Sinapalli. He was later transferred to Nuapada hospital for better and more advanced care.In order to find and catch the leopard, a group of forest rangers is currently camped in the community. Additionally, they are educating the populace on how to exercise caution and flee from a wild cat assault.
