In Conversation with The Author of “Wish you were Single “.

Zeel Chapaneri works as a consultant but she loves to take part in creative skills. She likes to read books , write and dance and she is a day dreamer who really enjoys imagining things. Let us know more about the author Zeel Chapaneri in the interview.

Q1) How did you understand your calling as an author ? What was your first writing experience ?

Ans. It was a never conscious choice or decision that I made. Writing came very naturally to me. I never realised it or never took it seriously. My editor Heena Joshi held a contest on Instagram in July or August 2021 and I participated in it and was the writer of the day for four times, that time we were not even familiar with each other. Post that, she asked me why am I not putting a thought of writing a book and why am I not taking my writing seriously. I gathered the courage and shared to her that I am writing a book and have written some 7-8 chapters but I am not that confident, she held my hand and now I am an author. It’s all because of Heena that I am here otherwise I wouldn’t be able to make it. Writing my first book taught me a lot of things which I never thought about it. It was amazing, challenging but magical.

Q2) How did you decide the plot for “Wish You Were Single ”. Give us a short brief about the book .

Ans. Heena Joshi my mentor and editor helped me in outling the book. Though the book has two parts. I have started writing the second one, I wanted to write something unconventional and also wanted to share a message with people about their beliefs on friendship, relationship and connection. I never wanted to write anything that is very predictable and wanted to write strong characters because I have seen such strong people in my life. There are some people who are very strong and inspires me to do the best, first is my family and second is someone who is very close to me, I address him as Dr Jugg. Sometimes you meet someone in your life at very unexpected time and your life changes for better and you only realise that how amazing things are because of the presence of those people and that’s how I reflected and wanted to write something about it. The book is about Aarohi who is independent girl, she is searching for her job where she meets Samarth – who loves Rahi his wife. Aarohi and Samarth are very close when someone knocks the door of Aarohi’s life and things takes turn. The theme of the book is about the equation between two people, it’s about the connection they share.

Q3) Nowadays a majority of the youth is much more focused on social media rather than reading books. What is your view on this topic ?

Ans I would say there are two kinds of audience – one who are book readers as we see there are so many Bookstragrammers and also there is another audience who is hooked to social media because they want to see what the world is doing. People are really building their brand and doing great on social media but you have to be mindful when you use it because everything comes with its own Pros and Cons.

Q4) Kindly attach the links of your book so that the readers can get a grasp on these beautiful reads.

Ans. https://amzn.eu/d/gSqCUWu

Q5) We know that there is a lot of hardwork that goes behind the launching of books .From preparing the final manuscript to writing the first draft till publishing. Tell us know how your experience was and to whom would you dedicate your success in this entire process?

Ans. When I started writing my first draft which was in February 2021 and then COVID happened to me and my family, I had put everything aside for a while, then I started writing again in October and finished my first draft in December 2021. Post that it went into first editing and rewriting and the process of proofreading and editing was continuous till June. I was supposed to launch my book in June but due to some issue we didn’t get the chance to publish. I went back and started editing again and proofreading happened again. The book finally got published in November 2022. Emotionally I was exhausted because I stopped my rewriting process in Feb and March 2022, the characters got on my nerves, that it was hard for me to get back to reality. It took me a lot of time to come out of those characters but somehow I was happy that finally I could give justice to each and every character. In this entire process I would really dedicate the success to each and everyone who helped me in writing the book, my cover designer and illustrator Tanya Jain, my proofreader Samrin Inayati, my beta reader Rahul who is my best friend and my another beta reader Jyoti who was my roommate and a very good friend, the person who always supported and believed in me Dr Jugg, my family who loves me unconditionally and Heena Joshi my book mentor and editor because of her immense trust and support I could turn a dream into a reality and to all the people who supported me in buying my book and giving it a shot.
