Air India Mumbai-New York Flight Diverted to Delhi After Bomb Threat

An Air India flight en route from Mumbai to New York was diverted to Delhi early Monday morning following a bomb threat, sparking a significant security alert.

Flight AI119, which took off from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at around 2 AM, was redirected to New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport shortly after the threat was reported. The decision to divert the flight was made based on instructions from the government’s security regulatory committee.

A spokesperson for Air India confirmed the incident, stating, “Flight AI119 operating from Mumbai to JFK on October 14 received a specific security alert and was diverted to Delhi. All passengers have disembarked and are currently at the Delhi airport terminal.”

According to reports from ANI, Delhi Police have confirmed that the aircraft is being stationed at the IGI Airport as authorities implement all standard safety protocols. “The safety of passengers and crew remains our top priority,” an official said.

At present, all passengers are safe, and further inspections are underway to assess the situation. Security forces are on high alert, ensuring that every precautionary measure is in place to prevent any potential risk.
