The overall number of applicants for admission to undergraduate programs at central universities will increase by 41% for the CUET-second UG’s iteration. Similarly, according to University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairperson Prof. M Jagadesh Kumar, the number of universities accepting the Common University Entrance Exam (CUET) score increased from 90 in 2022 to 242 in 2023.
12.50 lakh students enrolled for the CUET-UG in 2022, and 9.9 lakh students submitted applications. 16.85 million students enrolled for 2023, and 13.995 million of them paid the application money and submitted the form. This represented a 4 lakh-student increase. According to him, there would be a 41% rise in the number of students taking the CUET-UG in 2023. The testing window is May 21–May 31.
According to Prof. Kumar, the majority of students from Kerala, out of the five southern states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu, would try the CUET-UG this time. CUET-UG applications from Kerala students increased by 51% from 37,303 in 2022 to 56,111 this year. Tamil Nadu, which had 24,462 applications in 2023, up 46% from 2022, is the state with the second-highest number of applications. Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Bihar are the top three states where the most students will register for the CUET-UG. In 2022, these three states were still the top three.
