What made you choose the field of architecture?
Architecture & Planning is probably the only field that encompasses and unifies Art, Culture, History, Geometry, Geography, Science and a multitude of other interesting disciplines. It stimulates creativity as well as logical reasoning through practical problems. I was instantly drawn towards the subject as soon as I got to know about it.
Tell us something about your Organization.
ADCO was incorporated in the year 2015. It is a boutique firm committed to excellence in custom architecture, planning & design in a sustainable and cost-effective approach. We combine architecture with other disciplines to create a rare amalgamation that leads to a distinctive design development process and an end product that is creative and intellectually sound and sensitive to location and culture. We harness the skills, enthusiasm and knowledge from an integrated design team of qualified and experienced professionals, clients and communities to create inspirational environments. From appointment to completion, we are supported by various disciplines including project management and a construction review panel. The result is a product that is current but timeless, serene yet warm and universally rational while also being uniquely reflective of the values and characters of our clients. We have a diverse portfolio ranging from small design intervention to large commissions. You may visit www.adcoventures.com for further insight.
Do you think modern design is helpful than the previous traditional designs?
In this space age where artificial intelligence is coming in a big way, the design approach definitely needs to be changed. There is already a huge constraint of space and natural resources. There are threats of global warming, solar radiations, loss of flora & fauna, etc. The price of land and basic housing infrastructure is on a steep rise. All these concerns can be mitigated only with modern design interventions which are reflected in the concepts of minimalism, sustainability and community planning.Vernacular architecture may also be promoted by building proper supply chain management for the same.
Can you tell the readers something special about your organization?
Our expertise lies in helping clients realize their dream projects with our properly curated and planned design solutions along with complete handholding during the execution process. Our clients’ faith in us by giving us complete flexibility is our biggest strength and we are obliged to them for the same. We are working pan India on various residential, commercial and hospitality projects.
Please tell us how much hard work goes in preparing one design?
A design is a representation of cumulative ideas, thoughts, philosophies of an individual or a community at large, based on the needs and aspirations. It should address the vision of People-Planet-Profit. To integrate all of it together requires tremendous brainstorming, research and resources to catapult the development aesthetically and functionally.
Abhishek NR Nayak felicitated by Zee Kalinga for Emerging Good Architectural Work
A small error may lead to complex problems. Best design practices work day in and day out to create something unique and symbolic. Their efforts should be understood, appreciated and encouraged to bring a positive trend.
Finally, can you please give advice to the students who want to pursue architecture as a career.
Architecture is purely a professional field. Aspirant candidates should be aware that this discipline needs a lot of hard work and passion for one to sustain and thrive. Self-development by reading books of diverse fields, interaction with people of various cultures/ethnicities/needs, lots of travel, etc. are as important as academics. This field may require one to fit into diverse responsibilities ranging from Development to Management; therefore, it is extremely important to enhance the communication skills. My best wishes to you for choosing this as a profession. The future is yours to build.
