An over-40-passenger bus headed for Mumbai crashes into a canyon, killing at least 7 people.

A rescue effort is being conducted to transport the injured to the closest hospital.According to a police officer, a bus that crashed into a gorge in Maharashtra’s Raigad district left at least seven passengers dead and more than 25 hurt. The bus was travelling from Pune to Mumbai with about 40 people. On the former Mumbai-Pune route, the accident happened close to the Shingroba shrine.To get the injured to the closest hospital, rescue efforts are in progress. Raigad Superintendent of Police was quoted by news agency ANI as stating, “There were 40 to 45 people in the bus, out of which seven people have died while more than 25 people are injured. The rescue is still underway, and a crane has been called to pull out the bus.”

Images taken at the scene show that the bus’s windows and roof sustained severe damage in the collision. Ropes are being used by the rescue crew to carry people to safety.ANI reported that the travellers belonged to an organisation and were leaving after going to an event in Pune.
