Bhubaneswar: Odisha is stepping up its global investment outreach with a high-level roadshow in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), aiming to attract capital from sovereign wealth funds, port operators and leading industrial groups across the Gulf region.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to lead the investment outreach beginning September 8, with engagements planned across key business hubs including Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The state government is expected to showcase Odisha not merely as a mineral-rich economy, but as an emerging manufacturing and export destination with strong access to the Indian Ocean and Asian markets.
The government has reportedly prepared a pipeline of around 30 investment projects to present before major fund houses and investors. The outreach will focus on sectors including export-oriented metallurgy, petrochemicals, food and seafood exports, port-based industrial parks and logistics.
Port-led industrialisation is expected to form a central part of Odisha’s pitch, with opportunities around coastal locations such as Paradip, Dhamra, Subarnarekha, Astaranga, Bahuda and Chhatrapur being positioned for industrial and logistics development.
The UAE roadshow comes as Indian states intensify their competition for global capital. Odisha is seeking to leverage its natural resources, expanding industrial infrastructure, policy support and strategic coastline to secure long-term partnerships with Gulf-based investors.
For Odisha, the challenge now will be to convert investor interest and high-level discussions into concrete projects, capital commitments and employment opportunities on the ground.
