Bengaluru’s long-awaited Yellow Line metro corridor was inaugurated today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking a major milestone in the city’s transport network. Stretching 19.2 km from RV Road in south Bengaluru to Bommasandra in the industrial belt, the line features 16 stations and promises to significantly cut travel time for thousands of daily commuters.
The Yellow Line’s strategic value lies in its connectivity. It links directly to the Green Line at RV Road, allowing smoother north–south travel without battling road congestion. Future interchanges at Jayadeva Hospital (Pink Line) and Central Silk Board (Blue Line) will further connect passengers to IT corridors, central business districts, and eventually the airport line.
The Bommasandra terminal serves a key industrial hub, expected to benefit thousands of workers and ease hiring for companies along the Hosur Road belt.
After years of delays caused by land acquisition challenges, design changes, and the pandemic, the project is finally operational, marking Namma Metro’s single biggest expansion in recent years. With enhanced accessibility and reduced road traffic, the Yellow Line is set to transform commuting in India’s tech capital.
