Now that the Covid-19 infection graph is declining in Odisha, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has lifted restrictions for visits to religious institutions. As per a notification issued by the municipal authorities, devotees will now no longer be required to produce vaccination certificates or ID proofs for visits to any religious institutions in the State Capital city.
According to the reports, the notification from BMC stated “Considering the current scenario and the coverage of vaccination, the devotees will no longer be required to produce vaccination certificates or ID proofs for visit to any religious institutions. Further, there will not be any condition on priests or servitors to produce double vaccination certificates.”
However, the religious institution authorities are required to ensure all COVID-19 appropriate behaviour like social distancing, wearing of masks and hand sanitization within their premises. The BMC had allowed children below 15 years to visit the temple/religious institutions with proper proof of identification like the Aadhaar card and only under the supervision of their parents or adult relatives from February 12.
