The municipal police are investigating to rule out all possibilities, even though they believe the emails are a scam.Up to fifteen schools in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, received bomb threat emails on Friday morning, which sent officials, students, parents, and staff into a panic. According to news agency PTI, the local police believe the emails are fraudulent, but they are still looking into other possibilities.
Speaking to the media, a senior police official stated, “According to the email, explosives had been planted on school property. As soon as the command centre called, we dispatched our squads to the several schools spread throughout the city. Following a safe evacuation of all personnel and pupils from the school, a comprehensive search is currently underway. Although nothing unusual has been discovered thus far, it appears to be a hoax message on the surface. Parents don’t need to worry—our teams are nearby.Speaking about the incident, Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwara stated, “We have information about 15 schools where threatening emails have been received; similar threats were received last year as well. We are examining the schools and implementing all necessary safety precautions because we cannot afford to take any chances. Those who make threatening phone calls will face severe consequences from us. We are investigating every angle.
