By 2027, India intends to end lymphatic filariasis

India has made the commitment to end lymphatic filariasis. In a mission mode, multi-partner, and multi-sector focused campaign, India is dedicated to eradicating lymphatic filariasis (LF) by 2027, three years ahead of the global objective, according to Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Thursday. He stated in his speech following the opening of the second phase of the Annual Nationwide Mass Drug Administration (MDA) initiative that they would be able to eradicate this disease from the nation through “jan bhagidaari” (public participation), which was done in the presence of Ministers of State for Health and Family Welfare Bharti Pravin Pawar and SP Singh Baghel.by 2027

To ensure a healthy nation for all, Mandaviya also emphasized the importance of improving the cooperation between state and federal administrations. He listed the accomplishments of the Jan Andolan (people’s movement) in the area of health, mentioning Ni-kshay Mitra as an example, and declared: “Community engagement will significantly contribute to garnering success in this mission by the involvement of all stakeholders starting from the grassroot levels.”

The Minister highlighted the broad appeal of mass movements by saying: “Incorporating awareness generation, and making sure communication campaigns at villages and panchayats will galvanize the movement and lead to wide reach throughout the nation.” National Guidelines for Clinical Management of Dengue Fever and Chikungunya Fever were also released during the event by Mandaviya.
