CBI Files FIR In Case Related To Pak Nationals ‘Joining’ Indian Army

As part of its continuing investigation into Pakistani nationals who are being hired by the Indian Army using forged identification documents, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a FIR. In the FIR, two people—Raju Gupta and Mahendra Adhikari—are mentioned. The FIR also makes reference to certain government employees who allegedly helped the conspirators gain Indian Army posts by clearing the falsified documents. In response to a Calcutta High Court ruling, the CBI is looking into the situation.

The CBI had informed the Calcutta High Court’s single-judge bench of Justice Jay Sengupta on August 2 that although there was no concrete evidence in the case at the time, early investigations indicated that it was not impossible that such recruitments had taken place. The CBI further informed the court that more investigation into the case may include enlisting the aid of foreign investigating organizations like INTERPOL.

Bishnu Chowdhury, a petitioner, presented a plea to the justice Rajasekhar Mantha bench on June 13. Justice Mantha was the one who initially gave the CBI the go-ahead to begin an inquiry. Later, he was promoted to the division bench, and Justice Sengupta’s bench received the case. Chowdhury claimed in his appeal that the two Pakistani nationals were hired by using falsified documents after being chosen through the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) test. Additionally, he said that such positions made using fake documents were the result of a large-scale conspiracy involving powerful bureaucrats, politicians, and police officers.

Justice Sengupta had then directed the police to ensure security of the petitioner, considering that he had been facing life threats since the time he filed the PIL.
