Three bypass projects totaling Rs 544 crore have been authorized by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) for the Bhubaneswar parliamentary seat with the goal of reducing traffic and enhancing regional connectivity. The approved projects include bypasses at Rajasunakhala (Rs 156 crore), Begunia (Rs 118 crore), and Pubusahi–Sarua–Taratua (Rs 270 crore), totaling 18 kilometers, according to Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi on Tuesday.
Citing long-standing traffic bottlenecks in the area, Sarangi claimed that she had personally asked Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Jairam Gadkari to approve the projects. The proposals have now been approved and will soon proceed to the tendering stage, and the MP added that the projects’ execution will be closely monitored to ensure timely completion. The new bypass corridors are expected to significantly reduce traffic pressure on existing routes and improve mobility for residents of Bhubaneswar and adjacent semi-urban and rural areas. According to her, the ideas have been approved and will shortly go to the tendering phase. The MP went on to say that the projects’ implementation will be constantly watched to guarantee their prompt completion. According to her, the new bypass corridors are anticipated to greatly ease traffic on current roads and enhance mobility for those living in Bhubaneswar and the nearby semi-urban and rural areas.
Reiterating her focus on infrastructure development, Sarangi said, “Development and Service are the ONLY agenda items,” while expressing gratitude for the approval of the projects. The bypass corridors are considered strategically important for enhancing road connectivity in Bhubaneswar and adjoining semi-urban and rural areas.
