CM Majhi Terms Union Budget 2025-26 As Historic & Development-Oriented

The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s 2025–2026 budget was praised by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who described it as “historic, people-centric, and development-oriented.” He said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the budget will advance the country’s development and benefit all facets of society, including farmers, daily wage workers, the middle class, workers, women, young people, and students.

Majhi praised the decision to exclude people making up to ₹12 lakh yearly from income tax, enabling taxpayers to save at least ₹80,000 annually, while highlighting the relief offered to the middle class. He referred to it as a “Modi Guarantee” and commended the administration for keeping its word. Majhi praised the implementation of the “Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana” in 100 districts to increase farmers’ income and productivity in the agriculture sector. Additionally, he praised the raising of the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) credit ceiling from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh, describing it as a significant step in guaranteeing farmers’ financial stability.

According to Majhi, the budget’s record ₹15.50 lakh crore capital expenditure will be essential to the development of jobs. He also expressed gratitude for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’s significant ₹54,832 crore grant, which will enable Odisha to build a record number of homes for the underprivileged. Furthermore, during the next two years, communities throughout Odisha will have access to safe drinking water thanks to the ₹67,000 crore allocated for the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Majhi thanked the state for raising Odisha’s share of central taxes from ₹55,232 crore in 2024–2025 to ₹64,408 crore in 2025–2026. He also stressed that the increase will enable the state to successfully carry out a number of social programs. The budget focuses the four pillars of national development—youth, women, farmers, and the poor—Maji reiterated Prime Minister Modi’s agenda. He emphasized that India’s economy will develop as a result of investments in exports, MSMEs, infrastructure, and agriculture. Majhi said he was certain that Odisha will see unparalleled progress under the leadership of the Modi administration, referring to the budget as “pro-people, employment-driven, and future-ready.”
