In the next five years, every train passenger will receive a confirmed ticket, according to Union Railways and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. According to Vaishnaw, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s direction, Indian Railways has seen extraordinary change over the past ten years.
“In an interview with IANS, Vaishnaw stated that PM Modi has promised to increase the capacity of the Railways so much in the next five years that practically any passenger who wants to travel can easily get a confirmed ticket.”
According to the minister of railways, the railways, which play a significant role in the expansion of the national economy, would be further strengthened over the next five years. “We’ll be expanding facilities—especially for passengers—much more quickly,” Vaishnaw continued. Vaishnaw elaborated on the changes that Indian Railways has seen in the last ten years, stating that 31,000 kilometers of new track were constructed between 2014 and 2024.
“Only about 5,000 kilometers were electrified in the ten years between 2004 and 2014, compared to an astounding 44,000 kilometers of electrified railway in the last ten years,” Vaishnaw said.
