Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Education Minister, today urged Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to implement the PM SHRI scheme for the establishment of quality schools. The Union Minister requested in a letter to Patnaik that he direct concerned officers of the State to sign an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) for the PM SHRI scheme with the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL) under the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
According to Pradhan, most states and UTs have signed memorandums of understanding, and the first phase of school selection has been completed, with the second phase currently underway. The PM SHRI schools will not only focus on cognitive development, but will also produce holistic and well-rounded individuals equipped with critical 21st-century skills, according to the minister.
Pradhan stated that students will be provided with a diverse range of learning experiences, as well as adequate physical infrastructure and resources. On September 7, 2022, the PM SHRI Scheme was launched with the goal of establishing more than 14,500 schools across the country. The letter stated that by displaying all of the components of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 act, these schools will also provide high-quality education in an equitable, inclusive, and joyful school environment.
