Along the Baltal and Pahalgam roads, the yatra was put on hold.Due to poor weather, the Amarnath Yatra was momentarily halted on Friday as rain lashed numerous areas of Jammu and Kashmir.”The yatra has been suspended and no pilgrim is being allowed to move towards the holy cave shrine this morning,” news agency PTI said, citing the officials.
The pilgrimage along both the Baltal and the Pahalgam routes had to be temporarily suspended due to the torrential downpour, which began on Friday morning.As the weather improves, the yatra to the holy shrine is anticipated to resume.A convoy of 247 trucks carrying the eighth group of 7,010 pilgrims departed for the twin base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam on Friday. The 62-day yatra to the sacred sanctuary of Amarnath began on July 1 and will end on August 31. Both online and offline registration processes have been launched for the two routes—the Pahalgam track in the Anantnag district and Baltal in the Ganderbal district.
The sacred cave of Amarnath is situated in the Ladar Valley, which is surrounded for the most of the year by glaciers and snow-capped mountains, and is situated at an elevation of 12,756 feet above sea level, 141 km from the city Srinagar.
