Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has penned a heartfelt note dedicated to homemakers, urging women not to describe themselves in a “subdued voice” when they say they are homemakers. Writing on his blog on Sunday night, Amitabh also congratulated the Indian team for defeating Pakistan in the Women’s Cricket World Cup.
Reflecting on his experience with female participants on Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) Season 17, the actor said that when he asked women in the audience what they do, many replied softly, saying, “I’m a homemaker.” He encouraged them to say it with pride instead. “Why say it in a hushed tone? Never do that! Say with pride that you are a homemaker,” he wrote.
Calling the role of homemakers one of the toughest jobs, Amitabh highlighted that managing a house involves immense effort—from taking care of the family and children to handling daily chores.
He further recalled how the Covid-19 pandemic gave men a reality check. “During Covid, all men realised how much their wives handle at home when they had to take on the same responsibilities themselves,” Amitabh wrote, adding that homemakers deserve utmost respect and recognition for their work.
