Faith, Belief, and Spiritual Awakening!

By Abhishek Haridasan

For centuries, we lived in peace and coexisted with much pride. Our religion is a source of purpose and provides meaning to life. Deity worship is engrained within us, acting as a connection between us and the supreme force. Our religious beliefs accommodate everyone, promulgate peace and unite those with common aspirations.

It’s my belief, and my religion defines me as a member of the community that proudly gathers for pujas, ceremonies, and mahakumbhs!

We respect others as well, whose opinions about religion, faith, and humanity differ and accept that we might not have the same ideology, yet in front of the creator we are one!

Yet, why does one side of the spectrum push down their beliefs onto those who seek peace? What is the issue and why would there be an attack on the fabric of our beliefs?

Why so much hatred?

When religions promote peace, kindness and unity, why does one section of a multi-diverse community spread hatred and manufacture chaos? Why do miscreants play with beliefs and vent vengeance that scars everyone? Why would anyone desecrate a place of worship in the name of getting an advantage? How low can someone stoop using the garb of religion and power?

Why indulge in boorishness?

Is there any logic in judging without thought and heckling others who want to live in peace, pray to their deities, live a clean life, and celebrate life? Why would any sane person destroy places of worship, also known as places of salvation and revered as temples of knowledge? Why is the concept of Dharma, Karma, and Moksha not seen as a way to achieve spiritual enlightenment? Most importantly, why are simplicity and honesty, a few of the root traits of Sanatan Dharma not digestible by all?

I pose a question to millions around the world who follow different faiths and take pride in them: why is a religion which has been the backbone of communities for centuries being targeted despite thriving peacefully for ages?

Like every religion, a religion based on scriptures written by seers from millions of years ago, with theology that has pearls of wisdom in every chapter, and which brings communities across the world together – deserves respect for its longevity and the righteous path it promotes!

Respect, learn, and take away something from a drop of the ocean available in the multi-spiritual themes available. We will find peace in our hearts that will last for eternity – encapsulating this life and many others that we shall be blessed with.

Sukham, Samruddhi, Sanskaar, and Saadar Namaskar!
