Haryana CM Saini directs officials to ensure every eligible student receives scholarship benefits

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday directed officials to make sure that every eligible student receives benefits under the pre-matric and post-matric scholarship schemes.

According to an official statement, the Resident Commissioner at Haryana Bhawan has been asked to coordinate with the concerned Central ministries to gather information about scholarship schemes and keep state departments regularly updated. Additionally, school and college principals have been instructed to inform students about these schemes and assist them in filling out scholarship applications online.

Chairing a review meeting on scholarship schemes for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Backward Class (BC) students, Saini emphasised that it is the government’s duty to ensure that no talented or underprivileged student is forced to discontinue their education due to financial hardship.

The Chief Minister directed officers to provide students with timely information about scholarship opportunities, install information boards in all educational institutions, and ensure there is no negligence in the implementation process. He also instructed officials to conduct field monitoring and prepare periodic review reports to guarantee that the state’s 40% share of scholarships is credited to students’ bank accounts, while the remaining 60% share from the Centre is transferred through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on youth skill development, Saini said the Haryana government will prioritise enhancing the skills of students, particularly those from economically weaker sections among the SC and BC communities. The goal, he added, is to not only provide quality education but also to make these students employable and capable of contributing meaningfully to society.
