Puja Committees in Cuttack have been ordered by the Orissa High Court to stop building welcoming arches that obstruct traffic and make it easier for commuters to travel. The committees were also directed by the court to minimize noise pollution, forbid DJ music, and refrain from putting electric lines across roadways. The commissioner of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) was given instructions to carry out the removal of the current Dussehra arches that are erected on highways.
According to senior attorney Bibhuti Choudhury, the court stressed how crucial it was to have unhindered access to the roads throughout the celebrations. The Works Secretary promised that the repairs and restoration of the roads will be finished by October 5 when the court asked about them.
Health officials released a report on the dengue outbreak in the city, citing 330 cases, and recommended preventative measures like fogging and bush-cutting to stop the disease’s spread. Given the current nursing staff strike, the court ordered health officials to provide patient care without interruption. In order to continue healthcare services, the SCB Medical College and Hospital’s superintendent and health secretary promised to engage paramedical staff and contract nurses.
