According to the weather service, a low pressure system developed on Monday across the South Andaman Sea and the southeast Bay of Bengal.The India Meteorological Department said on Monday that Cyclone Mocha, which is developing over the Bay of Bengal, may become a very severe storm by Friday with winds up to 130 kph. Information on its landfall may be known by Tuesday.

On May 9, it’s most likely to become a depression, and on May 10, it’s most likely to become Cyclone Mocha. Around May 12, the storm is anticipated to approach the shores of Bangladesh and Myanmar.
Fishermen and small boats were advised not to set sail starting on Tuesday. The Met department further requested that between May 8 and May 12, authorities control shipping, tourism, and offshore activity around the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
According to the weather office’s bulletin, an atmospheric trough was extending from the south-west Bay of Bengal off the coast of north Tamil Nadu to the low-pressure area over the south-east Bay of Bengal and the nearby south Andaman Sea. It added that a western disturbance with cyclonic circulation was also present in the middle troposphere across north Pakistan and neighbouring Jammu and Kashmir.
