Imran Khan Removed As Pakistan's Prime Minister

After a long turmoil in Pakistan’s political Assembly Imran Khan was finally removed from the post of Prime Minister yesterday after a confidence vote. With this, Imran Khan became the first Prime Minister of Pakistan to be removed from the post via a no-confidence motion. The vote was held past midnight after opposition parties brought a motion against him, following days of conflict of interest of Imran, foreign policy, and breach of security.

Opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif – who is expected to be chosen as the new prime minister on Monday – said Pakistan and its parliament were “finally freed from a serious crisis”, adding in a tweet: “Congratulations to the Pakistani nation on a new dawn.”

The vote makes Mr. Khan the first Pakistani prime minister to be ousted by a no-confidence motion, with opposition parties securing 174 votes in the 342-member House in support of the no-confidence motion. No Pakistan Prime Minister has ever completed his tenure of 5 years in the office and Imran Khan adds to the list once again.
