In its Rail Mill & Special Profile Mill in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) has got BIS certification to build India’s First Fire Resistant Steel Structures. An official press statement stated that Hot Rolled Structural Steel, produced in accordance with IS 15103, may be utilized in high-temperature or fire-prone regions and can resist temperatures of up to 600 degrees Celsius for a maximum of 3 hours.

Designing fire protection for steel structures has proven difficult. Structures will be designed more effectively as a result of the availability of fire resistant steel. Steel structures for infrastructure projects such as industrial structures, refineries, bridges, metro projects, steel & power plants, as well as in hospitals, commercial and residential buildings, will be made using the new BIS 15103 grade.

“The license awarded to Jindal Steel & Power to make Fire Resistant Steel would be a game-changer in improving India’s infrastructure & its safety standards,” said Bimlendra Jha, Managing Director of Jindal Steel & Power, in a statement. Building a safer Atma Nirbhar Bharat would be made possible by the end users receiving the much-needed guarantee of fire safety from fire resistant steel.

At a ceremony honoring the BIS certificates conducted in conjunction with World Consumer Rights Day at Vanijya Bhawan in New Delhi, Jindal Steel & Power received an official license.
