Neeraj Chopra, a master Indian javelin thrower, narrowly missed the Diamond League trophy by a centimeter. It was his second consecutive year finishing second in this tournament.

Neeraj Chopra’s performance has been consistent, but he has only won one international event this year: the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland on June 18. He qualified for the Diamond League final by securing fourth place overall with 14 points, earned from two second-place finishes in Doha and Lausanne. His best throw of 87.86 meters came in his third attempt, but it fell short of Grenada’s Anderson Peters’ 87.87 meters, which he achieved in his opening throw. Earlier this year, Chopra won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics. Peters will take home a Diamond League trophy and USD 30,000 for first-place, while Chopra will receive USD 12,000 for finishing second in the DL trophy.

Chopra has reportedly struggled with a groin issue, which has prevented him from playing to his full capacity this season. He plans to see a physician about the problem that has prevented him from reaching his 90-meter objective.
