According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a cyclonic circulation is predicted to emerge over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and surrounding areas around September 4 and that circulation would boost the intensity of rainfall activities in Odisha.
On September 2 and 4, the MeT office has predicted that there will be severe rain in various areas of the state. On September 2, Malkangiri, Koraput, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Jajpur, and Kendrapada may get one or two periods of heavy rain. Heavy rain is expected in one or two locations in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir, Bargarh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, and Cuttack during the course of the next 24 hours (September 3).
On September 4, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, and Sundargarh may have one or two locations of heavy rainfall. After that, there won’t be much of a shift in the weather.
Additionally, from August 31 to September 3, the meteorological service has issued yellow warnings for thunderstorms with lightning in numerous areas.
