International Yoga Day – A day of cherishing our heritage

Yoga is a centuries-old and complicated discipline based on Indian philosophy. It started as a spiritual practise but has grown in popularity as a means to promote physical and emotional well-being. Although additional components are included in traditional yoga, yoga as it is practised in the United States primarily stresses physical postures (asanas), breathing methods (pranayama), and meditation. There are several yoga types, ranging from gentle to physically rigorous practises. Variations in the types of yoga employed in research studies may have an impact on study outcomes. This makes evaluating research on the health benefits of yoga difficult. On September 27, 2014, the current Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, suggested an International Day of Yoga during his speech to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).Yoga has been studied for a variety of pain-related disorders. Yoga has shown good outcomes in studies for low-back and neck pain, and it is one of the choices recommended by the American College of Physicians for first-line therapy of persistent low-back pain. Yoga may also assist with tension headaches and knee osteoarthritis pain, according to preliminary research.Yoga tends to help with anxiety associated with a range of life situations, such as medical conditions or tough educational programmes, as well as depressed symptoms. The impact of yoga on known mental health conditions appears to be less promising. Thus Yoga is definitely the best gift for wellbeing.

“Yoga is a priceless gift from India’s old culture. It represents mind-body oneness, thought-action harmony, restraint and fulfilment, harmony between man and nature, and a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercising, but rather about discovering a sense of oneness with oneself, the world, and nature. It is possible to improve our well-being by altering our lifestyle and developing mindfulness. Let us work together to establish an International Yoga Day “stated India’s Prime Minister.
