Is this “‘Dirty display of childish arrogance?”

In response to Rahul Gandhi’s appeal of his conviction in the Modi surname case, Gujarat BJP leader Purnesh Modi stated that Rahul Gandhi is a repeat offender and that the manner in which he appeared to file his appeal with a cavalcade of party leaders displayed “extraordinary arrogance.” The response criticised the behaviour as “a very filthy display of childish arrogance and an immature act of bringing pressure upon the court.” A sessions court postponed Rahul Gandhi’s two-year sentence earlier this month, and he was given bail until April 13. Rahul Gandhi’s application will be heard by the sessions court today.

Purnesh Modi stated in his affidavit that the accused “has a pattern of making such defamatory and irresponsible statements that may either defame others or may hurt others’ feelings, in the name of freedom of speech and political criticism and dissent.”Purnesh Modi claimed the defendant is a “repeat offender (sic)” by citing 11 instances of criminal defamation and one of “promoting enmity between different groups.””Even after the verdict of guilt and sentencing, the accused unambiguously supports the false assertion on a public forum. According to Purnesh Modi, the accused is not only acknowledging the false statement but also profiting from it.
