This week, news of an a moon-shaped mega-resort gained attention due to rumours that it would be moving to Dubai. According to plans, Moon World Resorts could be an opulent lunar complex that is 600 metres in circumference and 200 metres tall. The goal of the project is to make space tourism accessible to people who don’t know Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk. The “lunar colony,” the region surrounding the resort’s lunar surface, is intended to simulate being on (or very near) the Moon’s surface.
Visitors can also make reservations for one of the 300 exclusive boutique homes, dubbed sky villas, that will be located in the main building’s disc-shaped superstructure. You can enter the on-site private members’ club if you purchase a villa. The opulent hotel, whose exterior will resemble the lunar surface, is expected to be constructed in 48 months and reach a height of 735 feet overall. According to the architectural firm, “Moon Dubai” will boost the economy of the emirate in areas like hospitality, entertainment, tourist attractions, education, technology, the environment, and space tourism.
However, according to Michael Henderson, one of the two Canadian businessmen behind the project, there aren’t any firm plans for the resort to open in Dubai right now. Instead, the company is looking to licence four Moon destination resorts in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North Africa. At least 2.5 million people should be able to comfortably visit when the project is finished. The structure has a height of 735 feet and is $5 billion in price (over INR 39,838 crore)
