The rise in the price of 14.2 kg Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder by Rs 25 yet again and was this is the third time the price was raised in the month.
In February, the price of such cylinders mounted by Rs 100, and in the last two months, the price escalated by Rs 200. The cost of each cylinder is currently Rs 820.50 after it was raised for the third time. The cylinders were priced at Rs 795.50 here till the last raise.
The first time it was increased by Rs 25 on 4th February and then it was raised by Rs 50 on February 15. Later the price was increased by Rs 25 for the third time.
The new price of 14.2 kg cylinders in Kolkata is Rs 820 (Rs 795), whereas, in Mumbai, the cylinder now costs Rs 794 (Rs 769.00), and in Chennai, it is Rs 810 (Rs 785.00). The cylinders are priced at Rs 846.50 (Rs 821.50) in Hyderabad.
LPG prices, which are circumscribed based on the international product which is propane and butane, and the prices as well as U.S. dollar-rupee exchange rate, were increased this month first by ₹25 on February 4 and by ₹50 on February 15.
In December, the price of domestic cylinders had raised by ₹100 each. National oil marketing companies Indian Oil Corporation, BPCL, and HPCL had then increased the price by ₹50 twice. Even though they left the prices untouched in January, the latest revision renders into a ₹200 hike in the cylinder prices over three months.
