Mahanadi Floodwater Touches Bhattarika Temple Floor As Excess Water From Hirakud Reaches Mundali In Cuttack

The rising floodwaters of the Mahanadi River pose a serious threat to the Goddess Bhattarika temple in Baramba, Cuttack district. The water level is rising as a result of excess water from the Hirakud dam reaching Mundali. Floodwaters have therefore flooded the temple floor, and authorities from the Endowment department and temple servants are keeping a careful eye on the situation.

The god will be moved to the Rosha Ghara (kitchen) on the nearby Ratnagiri hill, where daily rites will be performed until the floodwaters subside, in order to protect it. Devotees have been advised by the Endowment Department to stay away from the temple during the flood situation.

Official data shows that more over 3.83 lakh cusecs of water flowed from Mundali till 7 am, with 20 gates used for the water release. It is anticipated that the water level would continue to rise when the flow rate near Mundali in Cuttack increases by more than 15,000 cusecs per hour. According to the most recent information, the water flow has surpassed 4.36 lakh cusecs and is predicted to surpass 5 lakh cusecs by the evening. Authorities are keeping a careful eye on the situation and taking the required safety measures to protect the temple and its followers.
