The Mukhyamantri Karma Tatpara Abhiyaan (MUKTA) program, which established over 37,000 rainwater harvesting projects in 111 urban local bodies (ULBs) across the state, has been asked to be maintained by all district collectors, municipal corporation commissioners, and executive officers of ULBs. According to a letter from Municipal Director Sangramjit Nayak, the MUKTA program resulted in the construction of up to 37,242 rainwater harvesting projects in 111 local government units (ULBs) throughout the State in 2021 and 2022. The ‘Catch The Rain Campaign’-built projects will be maintained.
The Department has created a maintenance schedule for these projects since they are extremely helpful in replenishing groundwater through rainwater gathering. At least 37,000 projects will have maintenance work done on it. MUKTA’s state nodal officer and director of SUDA All Executive Officers are to include Mission Shakti Groups and Basti Bikash Sangathan in this maintenance activity, per Sarada Prasad Panda’s directive.
By working together, the Public Health Department, WATCO, and Mission Shakti Groups may include them in this project. The maintenance work will be supervised by municipal organizations, Public Health, WATCO engineers, and the MUKTA team. Panda has given the order to pay Mission Shakti and other maintenance-related organizations’ outstanding debts within seven days.
According to Panda, a framework will be created for the collection of data about how maintenance work will be carried out, and this format will be used to gather information from the field level. The funding from the Finance Commission will be given to the local entities to cover the costs of maintaining the rainwater harvesting project.
