The farmers’ movement on the Delhi border over the revised agricultural law has now hit the central government everywhere. The Union Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Wednesday reacted to the influx of foreign celebrities and activists, including popular pop singer Rihanna, in support of the farmers’ movement.
On behalf of the Government of India, the MEA has commented on the issue on Twitter. The ministry has tweeted “Indiatogether” and “India against propaganda” hashtags. Following the MEA’s tweet, Union ministers and BJP leaders are tweeting on the hashtag and trending it.
The Prime Minister also retweeted the Foreign Ministry statement. The Union ministers mentioned in their tweets that the hashtag trending on the peasant movement from abroad was part of an international conspiracy against India. The Union Home Minister also tweeted on the issue. “Such propaganda cannot stop India from reaching new heights,” he said
Greta Thonberg, a Swedish climate activist, tweeted after American pop singer Rihanna tweeted about the ongoing farmers’ movement in India on Tuesday. American actress Amanda Kerry has also tweeted and supported farmers, including Mana Harris, daughter of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris.
Notably, after sharing a tweet on the Delhi Peasant Movement on Twitter, Rihanna tweeted, “Why aren’t we talking about this”?
