The no-confidence vote against the Narendra Modi administration will begin on Tuesday in the Lower House of Parliament, according to sources. Rahul Gandhi of the Congress was reinstated as a member of the Lok Sabha on Monday, three days after the Supreme Court suspended his criminal defamation conviction in the Modi surname case.
Other speakers from the Congress will include Manish Tewari and Gaurav Gogoi, who are also members of Rahul Gandhi’s party. On February 7, 2023, after taking part in the discussion of the President’s speech, Gandhi delivered his final speech in the Lok Sabha.The Wayanad MP, a vocal opponent of Modi and his primary rival in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, was expelled from Parliament after being found guilty by a Gujarat magistrate’s court in March. His conviction was temporarily upheld by the Supreme Court on Friday as it carefully considered Gandhi’s appeal before rendering a decision.
Gandhi was given a two-year prison term, but in April, the court halted it. He appealed to the Supreme Court last month after the Gujarat high court affirmed the verdict.Beginning on Tuesday, the Lok Sabha will begin debating the motion of no confidence. A time of 12 hours has reportedly been set for the discussion, according sources.
