A few users have recently expressed dissatisfaction with publishing and reading threads longer than a few tweets; the thread in question was an 82-tweet discussion of the defunct cryptocurrency exchange FTX, according to the news source.Twitter is working on a way to automatically turn long-form text into threads because its character limit of 280 makes it difficult for users to construct lengthy texts.
Twitter’s composer will automatically split the content into a thread when it exceeds the 280-character restriction, according to a tweet shared on Thursday by app researcher Jane Manchun Wong, according to TechCrunch.Musk responded to these tweets by stating that the team is attempting to make thread writing simpler. He tweeted, “Ability to do extended tweets coming shortly.” Musk has previously addressed the issue of writing lengthy tweets. It’s unclear if the ability to attach long-form text to tweets would be a separate feature from the new thread composer, as he previously claimed the social network was working on.
Twitter offers Twitter Blue subscribers a simple way to read threads thanks to its acquisition of Threader last year.
But Musk has not stated whether he will alter how the typical user reads.Though Twitter engineers are reportedly working on the new composer feature, it is not yet known when it will be accessible.
