NSE’s NIFTY hits highest ever 20,000 mark

India’s Nifty 50 reached a record high on Monday thanks to a record-breaking rise driven by local investors, which momentarily saw the benchmark cross the 20,000-point threshold for the first time in history. The financials, auto, and metals companies drove the blue-chip Nifty 50’s uptick to 20,008.15, while the S&P BSE Sensex (.BSESN) ended the day 0.79% up at 67,127.08.Last week, the Indian market showed surprising endurance despite the US 10-year bond yield exceeding 4.3%, the dollar index rising above 50, and Brent crude trading at above $90.

Despite a cautious global market, the leading indexes Sensex and Nifty closed up for the sixth session in a row on Friday. With increases of about 2% each, the benchmarks enjoyed their highest week in more than two months and their second consecutive week of advances.
49 out of the 50 equities have taken part in this rally, with the top five being Adani Enterprises, Tata Motors, Adani Ports, NTPC, and Cipla. These six equities, together with Mahindra & Mahindra, have increased by more than 40% during the rally since March.
