With the Opposition BJP and Congress preparing to corner the State government on a number of problems, including the Srimandir Parikrama project, deteriorating peace and order conditions, and neglect of farmers, the Assembly’s budget session, which begins today, is sure to be a turbulent affair.
After the parties representing the legislature meet on Saturday, just before the session starts, the plan will be finalised. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who was on a foreign visit, arrived in the State Capital late on Thursday night. The BJD Legislature Party will meet on Saturday to deliberate strategy for the Budget session. Meetings of the parliamentary parties could not be convened on Friday since the bulk of political leaders, including the Chief Minister, were in Puri for the Rath Yatra festival.
