Odisha Governor Writes To CM Naveen Over Public Issues In Angul

Governor of Odisha Raghubar Das has written to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik regarding some concerns he noticed while recently interacting with residents of the districts of Angul and Dhenkanal. Between December 5 and 7, Das visited a number of locations in the two districts and encountered individuals from a variety of backgrounds and organizations. He received multiple issues from people he interacted with. In his letter, he implored the state government to take the issues under consideration and act accordingly.

“During my interaction with them (people), they have brought out various issues pertaining to them… which may kindly be considered by the state government for appropriate action,” Das wrote in the letter to Patnaik. In narrating his experience, Das mentioned that he went to an elderly residence in Joranda, Dhenkanal, which is managed by the Maharshi Dayanand Seva Mission. The Mission wants the land to be in its name so that it can give the prisoners access to basic amenities.

Likewise, the letter stated that ASHA employees at Turang panchayat in Banarpal block of Angul district pleaded with the government to build a “Mamata Gruha” for health examinations and counseling of expectant mothers. Additionally, the governor alerted the chief minister to the negative effects that Mahanadi Coalfield Limited’s (MCL) mining operations were having on the local population’s health due to water pollution. According to Das, there has been a decrease in the area’s groundwater level. According to the governor, the reason why people expressed resentment was because the Rehabilitation and Periphery Development Advisory Committee (RPDAC) had not met for the previous two years, meaning that their complaints had gone unanswered.
